Spray Tan FAQ
How long does a spray tan service take? Your appointment will take approximately 15 minutes or less. This includes a consultation, prep (to provide the best, most even, and longest lasting tan), the actual spraying process, drying and dressing.
What is the process like? Your service provider will consult with you about your desired color and any add ons you’d like. While they mix that up, you will undress in the private bathroom, where you will be sprayed. We provide you with disposable undergarments, hair net, nose plugs and sticky pads for the bottom of your feet. You are welcome to wear the options we give you, wear your own undergarments, or wear nothing! Whatever your comfort level may be is fine with us. Your service provider will then put a barrier cream on the palms of your hands and sides of your feet, followed by a pH balancing mist from head to toe and then they will begin the spray tanning process. They’ll leave you to get dressed and gather your belongings and they will meet you at checkout to go over your aftercare and book your next tan!
Is there anything I can do beforehand to help the tan last longer? Potentially, the most important step in the sunless spray tan process is skin preparation; the healthier your skin, the healthier your tan will be. Prepare a good base for that perfectly toned spray tan with our pre-tan products! Executing the proper at home prep (shaving and exfoliation done 24 hours before tan) along with using our pH balancing spray to stabilize the acidity in your skin, will only help give you that amazingly natural glow you’ve been dreaming of. Will it stain my clothing? Any residual product on your clothing should wash out.
What should I wear to my appointment? Loose fitting clothing, sandals (no socks), for best results we recommend not putting a bra on right after your tan.
Does the color look natural? YES! The original Sjolie Solution and The ICON Reserve Solution are made with walnut extract, which provides an olive base to both solutions. The olive base cancels out red, pink or orange undertones and allows for a natural color on all skin types. The LUXE Violet line is a violet based solution - Color correcting ingredients to achieve a true brown color everytime you spray.
Are there shades to choose from? Sjolie Sunless Tanning provides us with a wide range of customizable colors to choose from. There’s a perfect shade for every skin type and desired look.
How long do I need to wait before showering? Depending on the type of solution chosen for you will depend on the development time needed to wait before showering. The original solutions by Sjolie, No6, No9, No12, as well as their ICON Reserve line, and LUXE Violet line, require a 6-8 hour development time.
We also offer a rapid option if you don’t have the time to wait the normal amount of development time of a spray tan. Ultra-One or LUXE Ultra Violet - Rapid Tan is excellent for anyone who needs a rushed tan. Maybe you have a dinner date or receiving your tan on a lunch break; this quick-dry formula will help anyone achieve their tanning goal in just a few hours. This solution is not intended to stay on longer than the recommended 1 - 4 hours. Your spray tan technician will instruct you how long to wait to shower depending on the desired level of darkness.
How long will the tan last? Spray tans using Sjolie solution will last 5-7 days (with proper care) before you notice significant fading. With proper use of Sjolie’s Tan Extender, it could last up to two weeks! (It will fade gradually over the two weeks) Stop by and pick up your Sjolie Sunless Tanning home care products! Pro Tip- Chlorine and excessive exposure to water will fade a spray tan faster! It is best to minimize long showers, baths and swimming to prolong the beauty of the spray tan.
